Product Overview

30" Quick-Fit Fan Hinge – Fans 24-36 Inches

Super Hinge changes the way exhaust fans are hinged for cleaning and maintenance. The Omni Super Hinge’s patented technology allows for ease, convenience, versatility and durability, and helps increase the life of the expensive fan housing by adding support to prone failure areas of the fan base. Laser cut heavy gauge powder coated steel components eliminate the repetitive flexing stress that occurs to fan base during use and service. Corrosion proof hardware is provided to ensure that the Super Hinge stays firmly attached to the fan and duct. NFPA 96 Code 8.1.1.1 states: “Approved Up-blast Fans with motors surrounded by the air stream shall be hinged, supplied with flexible weather proof electrical cable and service hold-open retainers, and listed for this use.”

The QF- Quick Fit line of Super Hinges is designed to give solid non flexing support of thin fan base material where disruption of fan operation is not an option. Simple one man installation of the QF-Quick Fit line of Super Hinge can be completed in under 15 minutes without disrupting the fan from service or moving it from the duct surface. Our patent pending pinch fastener design makes mounting and truing of fan bases a breeze. Like the SH-D Standard models, the QF- Quick fit line comes with all adjustment shims and hardware necessary to hinge exhaust fans with various fan-to-duct mismatches or offsets. The QF-Quick Fit line of Super Hinges uses the same patent pending adjustable Pivot Cams for compensation of various height/thickness fan bases during the initial installation by choosing the correct available mounting positions of the lower duct support arms. Once installed, the QF- Quick Fit line of exhaust fan hinge creates a true flush, safe and simple hinging scenario eliminating flexing and vacuum leaks between the fan base and the duct contact surface. This reduces the opportunity for exhausted greases and oils from weeping onto the surface between the fan base and duct.

The QF-Quick Fit Super Hinge is available in sizes capable of hinging fans with bases from 10 inches square to 45 inches. If a fan base exceeds these sizes our Print-N-Fit forms available on this site will instruct you of the measurements needed for us to make custom application hinging systems for unique or oversized fan-to-duct hinging scenarios.

Please remember when choosing a Super Hinge hinging system for proper safe support we recommend choosing a model which supports at least 2/3rds of the fan base. This will help eliminate any flex of the fan base and insure a flush contact point between the fan base and the duct surface.

Why are exhaust fan hinge kits important?

  • Proper exhaust fan cleaning. In order to thoroughly clean any commercial kitchen exhaust fan a sturdy hinging system must be installed to safely access all areas for proper cleaning.
  • Safety. Trying to remove a heavy exhaust fan from its duct for cleaning or maintenance is not only dangerous for the contractor but always causes some degree of damage to the roof or the fan housing.
  • To protect the fan wiring. Exhaust fan wiring is stretched when the fan is taken off the stack and placed on the roof. Without a hinge kit, the fan wiring is subject to unnecessary abuse during cleaning and maintenance.
  • To protect the exhaust fan. The exhaust fan can be damaged over time by removing it from the stack repeatedly and placing it on its side.
  • To prevent roof damage. Rooftop damage and leaks can be the result of placing the exhaust fan on the roof during cleaning or maintenance.
  • It’s the Law! NFPA 96 Code 8.1.1.1 states: “Approved up-blast fans with motors surrounded by the air stream shall be hinged, supplied with flexible weather proof electrical cable and service hold-open retainers, and listed for this use
